Jupiter in Sagittarius - Good News for Sagittarians

Scorpios were given a boost while Jupiter traveled through their sign until November 23. Now it is the time for the Saggies with Jupiter now traveling through this mutable Fire sign until December 18, 2007. With it comes a bundle of good luck for fellow fire signs, and for Aries and Leo too. Jupiter's entry into Sagittarius will relieve a good deal of the pressure many of us have been undergoing over the past twelve months. Sagittarius is a Mutable Fire Sign. Saturn is in Leo, also a Fire Sign; so the unforgiving conflict of the hard aspects in the Fixed Signs we have recently experienced is diminished by the more fluid approach of free-flowing, mutable Sagittarius.

As Jupiter enters the sign of the Archer, a more positive feeling comes to the fore. Jupiter here is humane, broad and philosophical, with a religious disposition, a love of travel, higher education and spiritual growth. Foreigners, people of other cultures and matters connected with faraway places will leap into prominence. Pluto has been hovering around the 27th degree of Sagittarius for some time now and Jupiter reaches this point in the first week of December 2007, so we can expect some powerful spiritual, religious and humanitarian developments approaching that time.

The period from now on until is expected to be one of the most fortunate for Sagittarius in over twelve years, which was the last time Jupiter came to call on those born between November 23 and December 21. However, all zodiac signs will benefit in some way, depending on where this "visitor" falls in their astrology chart.

Sagittarius is Jupiter's natural home so it should have fun there, which means more enthusiasm, joy and sense of adventure for all of us, as it sheds its jovial influence on our world. Of course, for those people who are more cautious and fearful this influence will feel challenging but those of us who&Mac226;re up for adventure it will be a good time ahead.

Jupiter in Sagittarius spells abundance. During this transit, we have to watch out we don't become too puffed up and full of our own importance. There is good luck in this planetary placement, but also a chance that the good fortune will be blown by being overly optimistic. Be open to opportunities and abundance, but also be alert to overspending and investing in schemes that look too good to be true. They probably are. Watch out you don't become too trusting, keep your mind open, choose your options wisely and with intuition.

Realize this is a time to play as well as work, but work we must in order to activate the "luck" factor inherent within this Jupiter transit. If we expect the skies to open up and treasures to drop in our laps, they probably won't, unless of course our karma demands it at this time. However, treasures are more likely to come at this time if we work hard towards our vision, always keeping our positive goal in mind.

PLUTO "DEMOTED" OR COMING INTO ITS OWN?

August 25, 2006

Literally Pluto was "demoted" on the same day (in some parts of the world) that an important cycle (2006 through 2020) actually started -- August 23, 2006.

2006, marks a primary turning in the role of Pluto in our lives. The 367-day cycles created by the orbits of Earth and Pluto around the Sun (called Pluto's Synodic Cycles) had been occurring in sidereal Scorpio for many years (1995 through 2006), but now start to occur in sidereal Sagittarius over many years to come (2006 through 2020).

It signifies a change in collective consciousness, but what does it mean to each of us?

This year marks the time when Pluto demands we move from our place of trials from past events (negative phase of karma) to claim the wisdom from our past (positive phase of karma). This year Pluto urges us to shift up a few levels to a greater truth of who we really are, and to pursue our ideals with passion.

This period started in June, 2006 but after that Pluto was in retrograde motion so the real beginning of this phase is August 23, 2006 - the day after Pluto was reclassified.

Pluto is a planet of transformation and it will now clear the way for this transition to take place by dismantling that which is not supportive of the higher truth. This is the ending of a time when false beliefs limited us to a period when the way is open for greater truth to emerge.

First we may see abrupt endings of long standing scenarios in our lives. In the time from July, 2006 to 2020, Pluto will continue to clear away attitude of ignorance so a greater truth and intelligence can begin to shine individually, and also on our Earth.

The light was shone by the scientific community on Pluto. It "demoted" it, but at the same time everyone is now talking about it. I have received literally dozens of emails.

Under Pluto's power the spotlight is shone on dark bats that have been covered up in our consciousness; bats of half-truths that have been covering up the light. Now the light will emerge and grow and grow over the next 14 years and nothing can stop it.

What should we do? Look in the mirror honestly. Face your demons, realizing we all have them. Propaganda and half-truths will no longer work. Uncover more fully the God-light within your through intense inner work, prayer and spiritual practices. Shine this light of truth on all your dealings with others; not with anger but with a love of truth, which is so admired by Pluto.

Remember, Pluto is the planet of alchemy - the transmutation of the base metal of our lower nature into the gold of our higher nature.

This new beginning marks the time when all good men and women must now leave behind falseness, hypocrisy and weakness, and rise into the strength and clarity of their God-self.

Saturn in Leo: Got Power?

Saturn in Leo: July 17, 2005 - September 2, 2007

On July 17, 2005, Saturn will move from its two-year journey through the sign of Cancer into the fun-loving executive sign of Leo. This planetary influence will affect us all but more especially the Fire Signs of Leo, Sagittarius and Aries. This influence will have many manifestations; we should expect to see lean times in the entertainment industry as people have less money to spend on non-essentials; we should see more power being brought to bear on the plight of children throughout the world. People will be feeling more serious than they have in a while; more people will be seeking a deeper purpose rather than just pointless fun. Leaders will have a hard time with Saturn in Leo, and their faults will be exposed for all to see. New leaders will arise who have leadership based on what is in their heart, not their ego.

It will be a two-year period in which we collectively will strive to get our priorities right. I have no doubt we will see more people like Brad Pitt, Bono and Angelina Jolie - high profile entertainers who realize that the main reason to have money, power and influence is to use it in positive ways to help those less fortunate, to transform our world. This would be the positive manifestation of Saturn (which is a powerful planetary influence that moves us towards perfection - and, if we resist, through painful experience) in the sign of Leo.

When Saturn changes signs it signals change. As a race we resist change and hang on to what we know even if it is bad for us. However, the more we understand the reason we should change the easier it becomes.

Astrologically speaking, Saturn in Leo is in what is called its "detriment." This is because Saturn rules Aquarius and this is the sign directly opposite from Leo. In other words, in this placement, it is as if the influence of Saturn is working against its own best interests - especially in matters of power.

As mentioned, it this two-year period may signal a difficult time for leaders. You may feel driven towards achieving your ambitions but however hard you work, you may receive more than your share of criticism from others. Sort the wheat from the chaff and allow the positive criticism to change you. You will also be your own worst critic and will not be feeling as creative as you have in the past - again because of the detrimental influence of Saturn in Leo.

Leaders are people who have power given to them through their position. An ideal leader is one who has personal power based on integrity, truth and wisdom. However, we know that in our imperfect world this is not always the case. With Saturn going through this sign, those leaders who are sitting on their "thrones" feeling safe with their positions, secure behind their status and masks, yet quaking inside, will not last. Those leaders who are overly connected with the outer superficial reality will and insensitive to the plight of others, will fall. Saturn in Leo is urging us all to move from an ego-based life to a heart-based life. The type of leaders who will emerge will be those people who can build from their heart, from their inner center; people who are not concerned with their public image or playing the "right" role. In other words, we will see a more heart-centered, spiritual type of leadership emerge on this planet, after some difficult times.

On a physical level, Leo rules the heart, and so we can expect more heart problems but also on the positive side more viable solutions coming to the fore to cure heart problems. What Saturn is teaching us at a deeper level is that we now need to open our hearts. If we are so driven and focused on ambition, if we are full of fear and focused on externals, our poor heart struggles for expression, and breakdown - in the form of heart problems - can occur. During this period we will seek, and find, answers on how to collectively and individually open up our heart chakra. This transit of Saturn can block our outward flow of love and break our heart; on the positive side it can turn us towards finding positive expressions for our love, such as healing, prayer and selfless service for others.

Painting The Canvas Of 2005

As an astrologer, I spend some of my time in the future. I am always fascinated to see what is up ahead, analyzing and interpreting planetary trends.

I like the future and feel at home there; it is a place of excitement and possibility. It is as yet unformed. Every second we breathe, think, feel and act in the now, we are painting the canvas of our future with colors - dark and muddy or brilliant and transformative.

I was recently amazed to find that the future is fascinating not only to me and other astrologers and psychics, but to thousands upon thousands of people worldwide. I discovered this when I thought I would write monthly horoscopes for my website. I did so and, within weeks, suddenly my website traffic increased exponentially. Apparently, these people go surfing from website to website to read all the many different astrological interpretations, desperate to get a glimpse of what their future may hold.

What I think they are actually seeking is hope. I think they are seeking a glimmer of light, of love, of reassurance. They may think they really want to hear that they will meet the love of their life tomorrow, but actually I have found they are seeking something deeper - truth and guidance. "What is my life all about, really?" "Why am I here?"

This greatly increased website traffic made me realize yet again what a huge responsibility it is to offer people guidance through astrology, counseling, teaching, writing or any other means. Everyone reading this who is in a position to impact others through teaching, writing, counseling or healing, has probably had these thoughts. It is indeed a grave responsibility; one has to be very careful about what one says, sticking to the truth as you know it, while being sensitive to its impact on the recipient.

My own spiritual teacher, Dr. George King, had a phenomenal grasp of advanced metaphysics and was always having to translate his awesome powers of mind so that we, the students, could understand. Sometimes he would start to tell us too much and he would get a "red light" and would pull himself up and stop and change his tack. You could see, looking at him, that he was aware of and conscious of the accuracy and truth of every single word he was saying. He was an awesome teacher.

Let me give you an example of how we affect each other and our environment. First let me tell you about a recent conference called Living the Field at which Gary and I have been regular speakers in England. This is a conference where science and mystics meet and speak about aspects of the Zero Point Field (the ether), an ocean of subatomic vibrations in the space between things that connects everything in the universe, much like the Force in Star Wars. The Field creates a picture of an interconnected universe and a new scientific theory which makes sense of "supernatural" phenomena, which is the space between all matter - the interconnectedness of life.

At the last Conference in October, we spent time with the wonderful fellow speakers who included Lynne McTaggart (the organizer and bestselling author of The Field), the astronaut and Founder of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, Dr. Edgar Mitchell and Life After Life author, Dr. Raymond Moody. Another speaker was the delightful gentleman, Cleve Backster, inventor, scientist and author of Primary Perceptions. As some of you may know, Cleve Backster has done amazing work with plants for over 40 years, proving that plants have a network where they communicate wordlessly with all other aspects of life. Basically his life's work is proving there is an invisible web that links all of creation, that shows up in the lab as impulses on a GSR, the EKG or the EEG. Cleve Backster was also the inventor of the lie detector still used by the CIA and police.

I was sitting next to Cleve at lunch and as I was about to eat my salad, fork poised, he told me that the salad was now reacting emotionally to my intent to consume it. I asked what I should do. He replied, in his jovial manner: "Oh, bless your food, bless it, say a prayer and it will "flat line." (This is the typical impulse he has found in his lab to such a gesture. The salad somehow "senses" the intent but, after a blessing or prayer, it now feels calm and peaceful.)

I realized then so forcibly the absolute sensitivity of all life. Not just humans, but every living thing including, according to Cleve, even the bacteria in yogurts! Not even just sensitive to our words, feelings and actions affects all life around us - but also even our intent.

I think you will agree that this knowledge transports us to a place of wonder; a sort of Alice in Wonderland place, an innocent place. However, this knowledge can also, if we allow it, take us to a fearful place, where we are almost afraid to say anything. If that fear makes us stop for a while and re-evaluate, then this is a good thing. The lesson of course is that we are indeed responsibility for affecting all life through every word, thought and feeling. Every one of us is, therefore, our brother's keeper (and also the keeper of every plant, insect and bacteria.)

While it is important to realize this and be courageous in this realization, we should never forget this affect of our words and actions on others. Let me tell you a story that reminds me of this constantly. It is a true story. A person went to visit a psychic for guidance. This psychic had an excellent reputation and was highly regarded in his field for the accuracy of his predictions. The psychic told the man that he had tried something twice and failed and he would try it a third time and succeed. The psychic displayed his usual skill. He was absolutely right. The man went away and tried his suicide attempt a third time and succeeded. He died.

All of us who have gone deeper in life, which is probably most of us reading this, do have a responsibility. Just as a parent has an awesome responsibility to raise a balanced, loving, healthy child, I believe all of us who believe in the deeper, spiritual aspects of life have this same responsibility to influence and assist other souls to become balanced, loving and healthy.

Let us remember this awesome responsibility we have as we prepare to paint the blank canvas of 2005. Let us not be fearful, but courageous and hopeful that together we can transform, heal and enlighten our world.

Interesting Space Facts - Did you Know?

All the moons of the Solar System are named after Greek and Roman mythology, except the moons of Uranus, which are named after Shakespearean characters.

Astronauts brought back about 800 pounds of lunar rock to Earth. Most of it has not been analyzed.

Jupiter's moon Ganymede is the largest moon in the Solar System, and is larger than the planets Mercury and Pluto.

Olympus Mons on Mars is the largest volcano in our solar system.

On a clear night in the Northern Hemisphere the naked eye can discern some 5000 stars.

Sunday, July 20, 1969: Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon, Edwin Aldrin was the second. They were members of Apollo 11, and landed in the Sea of Tranquility. The Lunar Excursion Module was named the "Eagle." Michael Collins stayed onboard the mother ship, "Columbia."

The Apollo 11 plaque left on the Moon says, "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon July 1969, A.D. / WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND."

The International Space Station weighs about 500 tons and is the same size as a football field.

Uranus is the only planet that rotates on its side.

The Venus Transit of June 8, 2004
Into a world of war, terrorism and unrest, the luminous and lovely planet, Venus, the bright and morning star, will make Her mark on June 8 as She sweeps across the Heavens passing between the Earth and the Sun. This spectacular Venus transit, hailed as the most astounding astronomical event of 2004, will last for 6-7 hours and will be seen by millions of eager onlookers worldwide.1 This will be seen in many parts of the world as a small shadow on the face of the Sun. The visibility of the transit in daylight suggests that the symbolic integration of the Venusian principle with the creative consciousness of the Sun is an event that will have distinctive and historic consequences.

All hail to the planetary languages of astronomy and astrology, as they mark and interpret the planets’ movements. Astronomically we know that this transit of Venus always comes in pairs, separated by 8 years, and these transits occur only rarely. The first transit begins at 5:13 a.m. GMT on 8th June and the second on June 6, 2012. According to the ancient Mayan calendar, 2012 is a significant year. The Winter Solstice of 2012 stands at the end of the Mayan Long Count calendar, put in place 2300 to 2500 years ago.

But what does this mean for us, earthlings? We are so used to tales of doom and gloom but astrologers predict this transit will bring greater oneness and enlightenment. Previous Venus Transits taking place from 1518 to 1882, have brought enormous impact on human consciousness, involving planetary collaboration. The Venus Transit of 1761 saw the first ever international collaboration project in science, and the transit of 1874 marked fundamental steps in the development of global communications.

Also since Venus in astrology is related to the feminine, and since women’s struggle for the right to vote and the activities of the suffrage movement were timed with the previous transit, we also may see more influence from the female principle in the next eight years. Perhaps the first woman American President? Because of other astrological considerations, we will certainly see more women in the news, and their words carrying greater impact now. Look out for myriad manifestations of feminine strength as it arises powerfully in these next years.

What should we do to make the most of the intimate presence of this Holy planet of Love, Sister to our own beautiful Goddess, Earth? Think of how lovely that these two Planets, joined through the ethers by Their own sacred emanations, are close to one another.

The opportunity for us is that we open ourselves to the highest emanations of the planet Venus possible – and use this tool of Love as an energy, as a force to transform and transmute. Love as compassion, as agape – the higher octave of Love, far above basic passion and desire.

This Venus Transit can bring remarkable results in our dark world. It offers us an opportunity for planetary collaboration in the realms of the Heart and Soul, so sorely needed in the darkness of our world. However, there is a caveat here and that is -- if we cooperate with it. Like all the planetary alignments and configurations, they are as tools which we can, through the use of our freewill, fashion into personal and planetary miracles.

Here are some suggestions of how you can best prepare for and cooperate with this Venus transit on June 8, 2004:

  • Join in the One Minute Peace Prayer Initiative
  • Study and practice the wonderful teachings from the Avatar of Love, Jesus – The Twelve Blessings.
  • Join with others in a global meditation is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. GMT (4 a.m. PDT) on June 8, its purpose to serve as a bridge between peoples of different nations, religions and philosophies.
  • Join in Services of prayer and healing at the Aetherius Society Headquarters or Branch nearest you.
  • Prepare yourself by studying astrological articles, news and views and monthly horoscopes

The Tenth Planet - Planet X?
New Scientist...March 15, 2004

Pluto's title as the outermost planet could be in jeopardy, with the discovery of a large object orbiting the Sun far further out than any other.

The object, dubbed Sedna for the Inuit goddess of the sea, lies about 10 billion miles from the Sun, nearly twice as far as Pluto. Its estimated 2000-kilometre diameter is about 90 per cent the size of Pluto's, making Sedna the largest Solar System object discovered since Pluto itself in 1930.

"Sedna is very big, and much farther out than previous discoveries," discoverer Michael Brown of the California Institute of Technology told The Australian. "I'm pretty sure there are other large bodies there too." Brown's team is expected to reveal further details of the discovery later on Monday.

Sedna lies in the Kuiper Belt, a band of ice and rock left over from the birth of the Solar System that stretches outwards from Neptune. About 800 Kuiper-Belt Objects (KBOs) have been discovered since 1992, some with predicted orbits that would take them as far as 150 billion kilometres from the Sun.

Is Sedna a Planet?

Sedna is "an awesome thing to find, but it is not a surprise", writes David Jewitt, an astronomer at the University of Hawaii and co-discoverer of the first KBO, on his website. Astronomers "have expected for years to find objects of Pluto's size and perhaps a little larger."

And size matters. "On a practical level, [large KBOs] are bright enough to permit meaningful physical studies" that will shed light on the origin of these icy relics, Jewitt notes. KBOs are so distant and their ice-rock compositions so unknown that even measurements of their diameters are "little more than guesses", he adds.

But Sedna's size is so great that it holds special scientific promise. "It might be large enough to retain a tenuous atmosphere, as does Pluto, at least at certain parts of its orbit", says Jewitt.

Sedna was reportedly discovered in November 2003 using a wide-field telescope on Palomar Mountain in Southern California, with NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope and the Tenagra Observatory in Arizona confirming the observation.

The new object is said to orbit the Sun every 10,500 years and may be trailed by a tiny moon. Sedna's temperature is a chilly -200y'C - the coldest known object in the Solar System.

Sedna's size is likely to revive arguments about what constitutes a planet. Many astronomers believe that Pluto was designated a planet only because it was found six decades before the first KBO.

"If you think Pluto is a planet, you should probably label Sedna that way, too, because it's almost as big," says Jewitt. "Get ready for a 20-planet Solar System!"

Since 2001, a team led by Brown, Chad Trujillo of the Gemini Observatory, and David Rabinowitz of Yale University has surveyed about 15 per cent of the sky from Palomar Mountain and found over 30 KBOs.

In February, the team discovered an object about 70 per cent as wide as Pluto and in 2002 it found an object half Pluto's diameter, called Quaoar. The team estimates it will find as many as 10 new, large KBOs in the next few years, including a few objects larger than Pluto.

Sedna will come closer to Earth in the years ahead, but even at closest approach, about 72 years from now, Sedna is very far away--farther than Pluto. Then it will begin its 10,500-year trip back to the far reaches of the solar system. The last time Sedna was this close to the sun, Earth was just coming out of the last ice age. The next time it comes back, the world might again be a completely different place.

The End of the Mayan Calendar
Most of us reading this are aware that the years between now and 2012 are crucial years, and that the Mayan calendar prophesied the end of our own "Age of the Jaguar", the fifth and final "sun" comes in 2012 AD. This, according to Cotterell's sun-spot theories, will be brought about by a sudden reversal in the earth's magnetic field.

Astrologically, 2004 is a bit quieter than the previous 3 years. It is a relatively stable year, but it is the calm before the predicted storm. We have just come out of a stressful period between 1999 and 2003 with Saturn and Pluto in opposition in 2001-2002 and some intense Mars highlights throughout. Now 2005 promises to be another difficult year on the world stage and things could become critical in 2006 with major social changes likely by 2009-2010.

There is a relationship (septile) of Neptune in Pluto from 2001-2011. The last time this happened was between 1937-1940 during Hitler's rise to power and the start of World War II. Astrologers believe, however, that with great challenges comes opportunities for growth and personal and collective enlightenment. However, if current trends continue this will result in major problems with resources starting in 2006-2010, which could disrupt our fragile civilization, including food production and distribution.

Apart from chaos of terrorist activity and religious fundamentalism, another huge threat is a change in the North Atlantic conveyer, an oceant current that has been responsible for bringing moderate temperatures to Europe and the northeast U.S. and Canada. We can expect frigid weather in these areas as well as changing global weather patterns and the resulting disruption of agriculture.

Significant problems are coming, and we should prepare for it. Esotericists also realize that it is the ending of the old order to make way for the new and the resulting rise in consciousness. We can prepare for it; we can survive it. Visit www.aetherius.org for information about global missions involving spiritual energy that are being used to help balance earth's resources and balance the spiritual energy crisis that faces us.

Overview for 2004

This year starts off January 1, 2004 with a conflicting energy of Mars and Saturn, so with these energies we can look for some type of government conflict on the global stage. Saturn is currently in the sign of Cancer, with Mars in Aries, which means that the aggressors have the upper hand here. Saturn is telling us to be cautious and watch our backs.

Saturn spends the whole of 2004 in the sign of Cancer as it did last year. We will therefore see many of the same issues surfacing again. Cancer rules water resources, family issues, the home, and those in authority. With the universal vibration of 2004 being a six - the year for buying property, or working on improvements, there is no doubt that the home improvement industry will boom, and home sales will continue throughout the year.

Jupiter is still going through (transiting) the sign of Virgo. Look for emphasis in issues ruled by Virgo - health, diet, employment, pets. Expect to see some healthier food chains spring up. It is also a good time to write, keep a diary, get yourself organized, and introduce discipline into your life. We should never forget that Virgo is the underestimated sign of the Zodiac. However, right now, in this millennium it is a highly important one. It rules Service to others, and it is the people of the world who are quietly and modestly giving service in one of many forms who really are the "Workers for Peace."

A great idea to start 2004 is to seek new ways in which you can contribute to Society, and the world at large, through giving Service. This can take the form of helping your favorite charity, or through prayer and healing. See this website for more about this, i.e. the One Minute Peace Prayer Initiative. The world needs our SERVICE more than ever before, and Jupiter is emphasizing this innate spiritual desire. Helping to balance the craziness in the world.

At the end of February/beginning March, Mars enters the degree of the previous Lunar Eclipse 16 Taurus from the Harmonic Concordance November 8, 2003. See my article on this and what it means under the Articles section of this website. This could trigger the energy stored previously from that event in November 2003. Look for a need to seek balance in the area of values vs power in your own life, and note it in the world.

This seems to be a fairly quiet year, after the hectic year of upheavals of last year. We should, however, see a record number of marriages, divorces, mergers and partnerships, especially when Jupiter enters Libra in September.

The year ends with big dreams, with Neptune forming a wonderful aspect to Neptune on November 29. I hope the year itself will be the stuff that dreams are made of throughout the twelve months.

My message for 2004 is be cautious, take on more responsibility, give service, pray more, learn to heal, compromise, work on your home and your inner self - and realize that you are GOD!

December ends with a Venusian period as Venus aspects four planets in the last seven days. We may find ourselves meeting new people or clearing out old relationships from the past, or revisiting old flames. There is a New Moon on December 23, so although this is generally a great time for starting new projects – bear in mind that Mercury is still retrograde. Start anything new with caution, and it is better if it is something that comes up from the past. Christmas day this year will hopefully be a time of true brotherhood, with the Moon entering Aquarius, the humanitarian sign. On December 26, retrograde Mercury passes between the Sun and Earth, and this is a powerful aspect for any kind of reflection or introspection. Take that extra day off work and spend some time alone to prepare your New Year resolutions! Before the end of the year, expect pressure to build with a tough Mars-Saturn conflict (square aspect). If your goals are clear, this can be a very efficient time. All the more reason to spend December 26 getting them into shape. The year ends with the slow moving planet Uranus returning once again to the sign of Pisces on December 30, after a few months in Aquarius. From now on, Uranus will spend seven whole years in this artistic sign of hopes and dreams, and one thing is definite for 2004 through 2011, is that there will be psychic and spiritual breakthroughs. There will be a new acceptance of the spiritual and psychic realms. A good start to 2004.

The Universal Vibration for 2004

The Universal vibration for this year is the number Six. After the hectic, changeable, unsettled Five vibration of last year, we should see things settling down a bit in our lives. We should expect things to solidify and expand, whether this comes in the form of a promotion at work, or a deepening relationship.

The number Six signifies marriage -- and divorce; two sides of the same coin. We will see more people wanting to tie the knot this year and more marriages breaking up. Behind this is the word "adjustment." To make a relationship really work we have to learn to adjust, to compromise and to cooperate, and this is the theme of 2004 also.

One other thing about this year is that it is an excellent time to buy property, or to invest in the property you already have in terms of money and time.

On a spiritual note, the Six vibration also brings responsibility for yourself and others - this being the core meaning of the Six. Perhaps it will be a time when humanity as a whole starts to realize the important lesson that each of us is responsible for our thoughts and actions; for the lives we create, whether we like them or not. If everyone truly realized that one truth, then the world would change for the better. We would no longer blame others for the difficulties in our lives; we would become more conscious of the effect of our words and actions; we would develop more self control and also we would realize that we can truly create a beautiful and outstanding world through our positive visualizations, our prayers and actions for the good.

Every day in the News we hear of disasters, war, or terrorist attacks, leaving hundreds of people with their lives shattered. Peace on Earth seems like a hopeless task at times, but we should always remember that it has always been the selfless actions of the few who have made a difference. We may not be a Gandhi, a George King, a Mother Theresa or a Martin Luther King, but like them, we can play our part to help secure our future. We do not have much choice.

It is a fact that throughout our bloody history, the majority of us have stood on the sidelines waiting like a bunch of apathetic sheep to be told what to think and what to do. Many have been caught up in the selfishly inspired rhetoric of power-hungry leaders, and have added to the chaos and destruction. Other, more discriminating souls have followed the lead of those few great ones among us – who have led us closer to truth, integrity, love, and goodness.

Now is the time for us to reconsider our values, and act upon them. Very few of us dislike the pleasure and comfort that materialism brings, and there is nothing wrong with that in moderation. What is wrong is that so many make materialism their religion; they worship at the shrine of Hollywood stars, and football players and others who have reached dizzy heights in the shaky towers of materialism. What is wrong that we disregard the suffering of those who struggle every day to find food, water or a roof over their heads. Those who wake each morning not knowing whether they will live to face another day’s struggle, or die through disease, war or hopelessness. These are all our brothers and sisters; they need our help and our love.

We are now at a crossroads in our history. We have the science and the technology to wipe humanity from the face of this planet and, even worse, to destroy the beautiful Mother Earth upon which we live. Do we have the love and compassion and sense of responsibility that must go with these tremendous technological advances? I know many people do. I hope it is enough. No longer can we afford to wait for someone to inspire us to action. All of us who care, all of us who weep for mankind, all of us who know right from wrong, must now become the spiritual leaders -- through our own example.

You may ask: "What can I do"? The teachings of the organization of which I have been a Member for over thirty years, The Aetherius Society, gives us one answer: "If you are a Buddhist, be a good one; if you are a Christian, be a good one; if you are a Hindu be a good one." In other words, follow and LIVE the teachings of whatever religion you follow. If you follow no religion, then devote yourself in service through physical work, prayer, and healing. There are thousands of wonderful causes and charities on this planet that need our support. There are millions of people who need us. You may only be one person, but remember, it has ALWAYS been one person who has changed the course of our history.

I think the choice we all have to make for the coming New Year is whether we will continue to remain on the sidelines of life fiddling while Rome burns, or whether we will stand up as caring, compassionate citizens of the world and ACT for the good of the whole. One prayer a day perhaps; one financial donation to a cause you espouse; one spiritual act of service. If we all weave these, every single day of our lives, into the tapestry of our lives, of our karmic pattern, then we WILL, not might, but WILL change our world for the better.

This is my prayer for 2004. May God bless each and every one of you, and inspire you all to greater spiritual action for our world.

Mercury Retrograde for the Holidays
December 17, 2003 - January 6, 2004

I know that the whole of 2003 has felt as if Mercury was retrograde. So many people have asked me about that. It has been a crazy, unpredictable year, but that was because of other influences, not Mercury this time. However, please be aware of the upcoming Mercury Retrograde period over the holiday season. As usual, we can expect the unexpected. Our plans may come undone, so refrain from making too many absolutely definite ones. Not a good time to start anything new, sign off on contracts, or make any big purchases. Try and get your holiday mailing done before then if you can, because it's a time when things can go astray. As far as travel plans are concerned, just make sure you have back up! Get receipts for everything. Play safe. However, it is a good time to have a break from your usual routines, to revisit the year - and rethink your life.

However, it's not all doom and gloom.  As an astrologer, I know that the planets speak to us and, if we learn the language, we will see that every planetary aspect is good for us.  We may not always like the results, but if we learn to handle the energies, we can use them to our best advantage.

When the planet of communication, Mercury, goes retrograde (appears to go backwards in the heavens), so too do our plans.  However, if we regard these three or four three-week periods each year as time to think outside the box, and escape from our own routines, we may even begin to enjoy the creative, unpredictable opportunities Mercury retrograde often brings.

So, what should we do during Mercury Retrograde?  Well, first remember the "re" words.  These weeks are good for re-doing just about anything.  Here are some ideas for you to try during this current Mercury Retrograde period which goes into 2004:

  • Re-apply for a job
  • Review your bank account
  • Renew a loan
  • Repair your car
  • Re-contact past clients
  • Research
  • Review your life
  • Relax and rejuvenate.
  • Reflect

Catch up on all of the mundane work and tasks you set aside and also have a game plan in place when Mercury goes direct. It’s a super time to finish up and clean-up too.

There are some people who never seem to be affected during this period. Chances are they were born when Mercury was retrograde. Millions of people are born during these times. How do these weeks affect them? Well, Mercury retrograde babies thrive. Things appear easier for them and run smoothly. They get the new job, start building the new house and travel to Vegas. It’s OK to push forward in the outside world. If you’re one of these people, you’ll have the edge on everyone else. How do you find out? Your astrology chart will indicate if Mercury was retrograde when you were born. Remember to work with Mercury retrograde times rather than against. Look at them as “time-out” periods to get you back on track.

The Harmonic Concordance:
November 8/9, 2003

The Harmonic Concordance, 2003, follows its predecessor, The Harmonic Convergence of 1987. It takes place this year at the moment of the total lunar eclipse of November 8/9*. This is at 1:29 a.m. Sunday, November 9 GMT (5:29 p.m. Saturday, November 8 PDT).

This marks an important moment of rare cosmic attunement. The total lunar eclipse is part of what is known in astrology as a Grand Sextile pattern – a wonderful, harmonious flow of energy between six planets in our solar system. Within this pattern is yet another powerful pattern known as The Star of David, an important mystic symbol, which is created by two inverted Grand Trines. There are yet more significant astrological patterns within this pattern, and some astrologers believe this is the most significant alignment in the 6,000 year span between 3,000 BC and 3,000 CE. Certainly, it is rare in its beauty and wonder.

Unlike its predecessor, the Harmonic Convergence – due to the world-wide nature of a lunar eclipse – the powerful, once in a many millennium moment of the Harmonic Concordance will occur at the same instant, in all time zones, around the globe. This is one powerful moment in time -- but its effects can last for centuries to come.

This Harmonic Concordance has attracted a tremendous amount of attention and speculation. The following is my assessment of it, as far as I know, from my own background in astrology and metaphysics, and from studying the astrological event, as well as articles on the subject.

Astrologer, John Mirehiel, first brought the astrological portrait of this moment to the public eye, in 1998. He found the horoscope chart for the full moon eclipse very compelling, and many other astrologers have since studied it. It is now universally acknowledged that when the chart is examined in the framework of traditional Western astrology, a number of significant features become apparent.

The general consensus is that (at the very least) this moment is likely to bestow grace and blessings upon those who spend this time and use the high energies it produces with their hearts and minds focused spiritually.

There have been numerous speculations about what might happen during this time. Some are rather extreme, to say the least. Some expect to see the first wave of Ascension take place. Others are waiting for spaceships to take us away. Still others wonder if the astrological chart is foretelling a type of universal rapture.

My take is that it is not so much about the outward events, but an opportunity for those who are ready, to make this time as spiritually powerful as possible. In other words, be "spiritually proactive"; don’t wait for things to happen.

Powerful planetary events can and often do coincide with events in the world around us, and these can indeed be regarded as "signposts" from the Cosmos. Catastrophic events are a manifestation of the karmic pattern of humanity (in this case, negative) and warn us that we are going down the wrong track. We complain about the weather and suffer from natural disasters, and yet we cause these through our thoughts and actions. I do not believe we are collectively "ready" for sublime events, such as some kind of mass Ascension, to take place during the Harmonic Concordance.

Astrology is a language of the Divine, and It uses such events to "talk" to us. However, first we have to raise our vibrations through spiritual work and practices, in order to attune ourselves to what is being said. Once we learn to do this, then indeed we can expect sublime events, otherwise known as "miracles" to take place. However, once again I must stress, the onus is on us. As my own Spiritual Master and Founder/President of The Aetherius Society, Dr. George King, always said (and I paraphrase), we must take one step towards God, before God takes two steps towards us.

It is good to see that groups of people worldwide are taking the time to visit sacred places to attune themselves spiritually through prayer and meditation.

This beautiful, powerful planetary configuration is giving us all an opportunity to make a choice. We can choose to use this time to embody the highest spiritual virtues, and also to send out prayers for healing of individuals and the world, as well as perform service to others, or we can choose to ignore it.

It is a good thing that it has attracted so much attention throughout the globe, for if we consciously join together with the highest intent at this time, we can cooperate with the higher aspects of the planetary energies. Then, we are in effect, tuning ourselves in to these harmonious and powerful cosmic energies, which will do much good for the collective consciousness. Just imagine the tremendous benefits that must result from the prayerful intent of hundreds of thousands of souls focused, on the same purpose, at the same moment.

In recent years, scientists have begun to accept what mystics have always known: that we are all interconnected through a shared field of energy, referred to as "The Field." Now, scientists and mystics are also aware of the psychic impact of our group directed intentions and prayers around the world, and of the power of sacred sites.

There has been on-site data collected at certain sacred sites and this has been compared with other regular locations. It has been shown that the field in both areas is very different. On-site data collected and compared with that of other locations, make it is clear that the field in both sacred and mundane areas is noticeably different.

Other studies have been done about the projected level of consciousness that can be achieved during the Harmonic Concordance. This is based on the work of Dr. David Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D.* who has devoted years of research to a developing a qualitative mapping of psychic energies. The results of his 25-year, cross-cultural study indicate that there are definable levels of consciousness that can be associated with various states of the human condition. Dr. Hawkins arrayed these states on a thousand-point scale. At the lowest level were attributes such as shame (20), guilt (30), apathy (50), etc. The "positive" qualities begin with courage, at 200, and progress to Oneness at 600. The range from 6000---1000 is designated as "Enlightenment."

Independent "raters" of the Harmonic Concordance moment of November 8, 2003, have reported numbers that fall in the high-end range of enlightenment. I do not know how these figures have been obtained, but certainly Dr. Hawkins work is very powerful and interesting.

To summarize: this is a wonderful, positive time for all those of us who wish to make our world a better place. We can and should tune into and use the high planetary energies of this time through prayer, meditation, and service to others. It is a great idea to use this time to visit the sacred areas of our world in order to attune yourself to Nature and offer your thankfulness and appreciation to the Mother Earth. In this way we are cooperating with the beauty and majesty of the cosmos, and so helping to raise the collective consciousness of mankind.

What's Happening in the U.S.

An excellent predictive tool in astrology is called Progressions. It is based on the concept that each 24 hours after your birth is equivalent to each year of your life. Although the predictive tool called Transits can be more accurate and reliable, Progressions tell a lot about a person as far as their personal destiny is concerned. Transits are more about how we react to things, and Progressions are like cycles in our life, as we grow and evolve.

Progressions are often subtle in influence but this does depend upon the planet in question, and the nature of the personality involved. With the progression.

If we look at the horoscope for the birth of the United States, we will see that the progression of the Planet Mercury as it moves backwards from Pisces into Aquarius is going to be crossing the progressed Sun of the U.S. As Mercury represents communication, we are not surprised to see controversy about the government's control of the media. President Bush also used the clever practice of integrating journalists in with troops during the Iraq war, so that they would tend to bond with the troops and become less objective.

Even if we don't particularly like Bush, we must admire his great public relations skills and skilled use of the media. He has used some of the top image makers and has himself used the media to his advantage. However, it would be unlikely for this to continue.

As Mercury continues its retrograde progression it will join the U.S. Moon at about the time of the inauguration of the next President in January 2005. This would seem to indicate that there is some type of revelation of previously concealed information. The Moon represents the public - the American people in this case. A Moon/Mercury conjunction indicates a desire to know the truth and to speak out. It does also indicate a familiarity with the public, so we should not be surprised to see Bush in the running again. However, it may indicate that if anything has been concealed by him, it would be likely to come out at this time. This is definitely not a time to keep things hidden from public view, however clever he might be at it.

Another great possibility could be Hilary Clinton. Because with progressed Mercury Retrograde one thing we can expect is for the past to be revisited. This could either be Bush, or it could be another Clinton. Personally, I feel Bush will lose too much popularity through the economy just as his Dad did, and that the public will be ready for another Clinton - and the first female President. Hilary is very much at home with the Moon/Mercury conjunction as she has Gemini rising in her horoscope and has a gift with words. I heard her say once that when she met Bill "we started a conversation which we are still continuing." Very Gemini rising. Don't forget she's also a Sun Scorpio with a Taurus North Node, so she's extremely determined. If I was a gambler, I would definitely bet on another Clinton in the White House!

Mars is Closest to the Earth in Almost 60,000 Years!
August 28, 5:59 PM Greenwich time - Mars opposes the Sun.

According to Space.com, Mars will be within 34,646,418 miles (55,758,006 kilometers) of Earth on the 27th. "This will be the closest that Mars has come to our planet in nearly 60,000 years."

You have probably heard that astronomers are excited and have seen Mars in the night sky as so much larger and brighter than before, brighter even than Jupiter and all the stars, and outshone only by the Moon and Venus.

But what does this mean to us?
What can we expect from an astrological point of view? No doubt you would expect, as I do, that Mars is more powerful in it influence when it comes closer to Earth (known as Perihelion) One astrological study found that a "hard" aspect such as the opposition we will see on August 28, between the Sun and Mars, the planet of aggression, is violence. I doubt we are surprised. When Mars is also retrograde as it is at the present time, it has been found that there are more violent events than expected – four times as many in fact. The axis for this once-in-a-blue moon event is from Virgo to Pisces, with the Sun in Virgo opposing Mars in Pisces. (When two planets oppose each other, we will feel their individual energies more powerfully). Also, the slow-moving Neptune is in Pisces, while the Sun is joined by Mercury and Venus, Jupiter (just coming into Virgo) and the Moon all in Virgo. This is a large opposition – Jupiter, Sun and Venus in Virgo opposing Mars and Uranus in Pisces. (Where there are a lot of planets together, it is like a massive amount of celestial energy at our disposal – this can be good or bad, depending upon us). Also, Saturn and Pluto are in the picture by aspect.

This is almost like seeing the good guys vs. the bad guys, only none of the planets’ energies are bad – just that we find them hard to handle. Jupiter near the Sun and Venus is lovely. Opposite them, pulling the other way is aggressive, courageous Mars and rebellious Uranus, which is so connected to earthquakes, lightening and sudden, unexpected change, which loves to wake us up.

What the planets are telling us is to integrate these two opposing lots of energy – growth, love and spirituality through service on the one hand, and courage to change on the other. This may not be as utopian as we might think because, first and foremost, we (humanity) hates to change and will do anything to avoid looking in the mirror but will tend to strike out at others when change comes along.

What we can say is that both Virgo and Pisces are similar in that, on a spiritual level, they want to serve a higher reality than themselves. Virgo, through work, and Pisces through art and merging through meditation.

How we might feel this opposition in our own lives is that Virgo sets very high standard so we may beat ourselves up because we fall short. Guilt is possible in here, and self worth is an issue. The Piscean energy can lead us to mind-altering situations and conditions, desiring to shove our head into the shifting sands of life. Each of us will feel this opposition differently depending on our birth charts, but what it is telling us generally is:

To take a leap of faith with courage to become that which you have dreamed of becoming. Believe in yourself and grab opportunities. Acquire the skills you need to take the next step on the road to your dreams.

Spirituality is the key at this time. By spirituality, I mean honest self-examination of yourself and your spiritual quest. Also, prayer. It could be a very difficult time for the world, and already is. We can probably expect some havoc and lots of unpleasant surprises, natural and man-made, on the world stage. Also, expect to see sneaky, surprise attacks and underhand attacks, such as the truck bomb at the UN headquarters, or a sniper. There may be even more confusion and chaos – see Iraq situation and even more unsettled climate there among the troops.
